What I’m Loving: Pinterest Edition

I love using Pinterest as a way to keep track of an idea I’m currently obsessing over or a recipe I’d like to come back to another time. It’s more organized and visually appealing than an endless list of bookmarked pages.

It’s also a wonderful way to share articles, DIYs, and pictures. Here are some things I’ve been pinning lately!

Organization.

In school, I was an avid user of colored pens to spice up my notes but I never took it as far as changing my “font” and using graphics. Now I’m wishing I did! These are great ideas for making notes adorable and study-friendly.

Has anyone tried a bullet journal? I’ve been reading about them everywhere and am thinking of starting one. As someone who likes to keep planners for nostalgia, I think this would be a perfect hybrid. If you’ve tried it, let me know in the comments!

Travel.

This list is INCREDIBLE. It’s hard to believe these places aren’t just illustrations out of a fairytale. I’ve definitely added quite a few to my travel bucket list, right at the top is the bridge in Kromlau, Germany.

Visiting Rome was one of my favorite trips I’ve been on. It’s such a cool, vibrant city with so much to explore. To my surprise, we found a young, lively nightlife near where we stayed and I’d love to check out more of the “local” neighborhoods on my next trip!

Traveling, anywhere, is such a rewarding and life-changing experience. It allows you to break away from “normal” and look deeper into figuring out who you are. I love the travel goals in this Darling Magazine article, they’re broad and attainable and will mean something different to each woman. The most important takeaway is taking that leap to go somewhere new.

Eats.

I first made this salad a little over a month ago, and I’ve already made it about eight times. It is very simple and very delicious. What I also love about this salad is that it’s completely customizable. The base is the corn, avocado, and lime but, otherwise, you can add and take away what you wish. I tend to do corn, beans and avocado, but I added a yellow pepper once and loved that combo!

I’m a huge fan of poached eggs but always thought they were super ornate and difficult to make. A little digging on Pinterest helped me realize that I was wrong. This article explains four ways to poach an egg, I can’t wait to try it for a weekend breakfast soon.

Avocado Toast, Currently, The Graceful Wanderer

Currently… | July 2016

These past few months have been hectic and, unfortunately, this blog was the first thing to fall by the wayside. I started a new job that tends to leave me exhausted at the end of each day. And with the arrival of summer-like weather, I’ve found myself outdoors rather than in front of the computer on the weekends. But I miss blogging and the momentum I was on, so I’m making it a bigger priority. I’ve got fun posts on the way, so be sure to stay tuned!

I thought I’d jump back into this routine with a “Currently” post. It only seems fitting to tell you what I’ve been up to, I’d love to hear about what you’re doing lately in the comments!

Reading… “Forever” by John Hammil. I just started this on a recommendation from my brother (it’s his favorite book!) and I can already tell it’ll be good. A story of an Irish guy given immortality as long as he never leaves Manhattan? Count me in.

Currently, Cherries, Strawberries, The Graceful Wanderer

Eating… Strawberries & Cherries. I went through a phase when I was younger of not liking berries and I’m not sure why because they’re delicious! Fortunately, I’ve realized how wrong I was, I can’t get enough of them recently.

Watching… Reign. This CW show follows Mary Queen of Scots as she navigates life in the French Court.  I’d watched the pilot a couple years ago but didn’t get that into it, however, I decided to give it another shot after a friend told me I’d love it. Now, I’m hooked and I got my mom addicted to it, too!

sunset, beach, the graceful wanderer

Dreaming… of family time at the beach. While I am more of a lake girl myself, I’m so excited to get down to the beach later this month and enjoy sun, sand, and shenanigans with some of my family!

Trying… Watercolor. I’ve been researching various techniques and styles of watercolor painting. I enjoy using paint for lettering so I’m delving more into that, as well as experimenting with images. Some may make an appearance on the blog soon.

Loving… Big Brother. It’s become a family tradition to “expect the unexpected” each summer and this year is no exception. I can’t say this cast is a favorite but a few of my favorites have returned (Nicole, Mama Day, not to mention James & his pranks!) and the family member twist is always fun.  I’m hoping for some more twists throughout the season!

Beer Garden, currently, summer beer, The Graceful Wanderer

Drinking… Summer beers. I’m embracing all of the seasonal brews before they disappear. My favorite has been Sam Adam’s Porch Rocker, but I’m always open to trying a pint of something new. Any suggestions? 🙂

And that’s what is currently going on in my life, I’m glad we were able to catch up. Do you have any favorite summer TV shows? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

Mother Nature has been crazy recently! You know how the old saying goes: “April showers bring May flowers.” Right now I’m wondering what April snow brings? I guess we’ll find out this year!

Watching… “The Ranch” on Netflix. Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson are reuniting to play brothers working on their family cattle ranch. It’s corny and funny and you can’t help but love all of the characters, despite their many faults.

Listening… to “Home Again” by Michael Kiwanuka. This isn’t a new song but I’ve been choosing it quite a bit lately. It’s got a very mellow and calming feel to it.

Drinking… lots of sparkling water/seltzer since I’ve decided to stay away from soda. I’m enjoying getting big bottles and mixing up the flavors for the perfect (not too sweet) taste.

Dreaming… of warmer weather, as per usual! I just got the cutest, comfiest matching pajama set but it’s still too chilly to wear them. It’ll be perfect for nights at the lake, I can’t wait!

Eating… sour gummy worms. I picked some up at Cracker Barrel on a little road trip this weekend and love snacking on them to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Reading… Me, My Hair, and I: Twenty-seven Women Untangle and Obsession by Elizabeth Benedict. As someone who has a complicated, love-hate relationship with my hair, I’m loving reading different women’s relationships with their hair and the culture surrounding it. Talking about one’s life story can be difficult but telling it through our hair can somehow connect us all.

Wanderlust Wednesday: New Orleans, LA | The Graceful Wanderer

Wanderlust Wednesday: New Orleans, LA

When I think of spring, it brings images of sun and flowers and chirping birds. However, that’s not always the case. We just celebrated the first official day of spring with snowfall! No more snow in he forecast for next week but it does have several days with those little cloud & raindrop icons coming up. That’s spring for you, right? A mish mosh of blue skies and threatening clouds, colorful blooms and muddy puddles.

This crazy, mixed up weather is reminding me of another week in which it was supposed to rain for days on end. But it didn’t. I’m talking about my trip to New Orleans last year. Half of the week had rain clouds in the forecast. You know what we got? Sunshine and eighties every. single. day. We had one thunderstorm that lasted all of thirty minutes, I kid you not.

So, I’ve begun reminiscing on that week and thought I would share a few photos of the beautiful Big Easy with y’all.Read More »

7 Springtime Activities

This winter was nothing, especially when compared to last year. And yet, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for Spring! It might be because we’re in a new house and I’m in a new phase of life (uhh…adult?) but there are so many things I can’t wait to accomplish this Spring. Although Mother Nature appears to have a different idea with the fresh layer of snow she just laid down..

Today, I’m sharing seven things I’m looking forward to now that Spring has sprung!Read More »

You’ve made it to Friday! And almost to Spring!

This weekend marks the official start of spring and, even though there is snow in the forecast here on the East Coast, I am embracing spring with open arms. I am refusing to believe that it’s going to snow, so let’s hope Mother Nature listens.

6 Pinterest Finds I’m Currently Loving

Like many others, I often turn to Pinterest for inspiration and ideas. I tend to search for one topic, only to fall into the black hole and come out hours later having pinned several other links regarding something entirely different than my original interest. Oh, just me? Hm, moving on then. 😉

Today, I thought I’d let you have a peak at what I’ve been pinning these days!

Wanderlust Wednesday: First Trip Abroad, Lourdes France

Wanderlust Wednesday: My First Trip Abroad

I have been fascinated and intrigued by foreign places since before I can even remember. I’m sure that stems from my love of reading about faraway places and adventures abroad. Well, that led to a need to travel becoming one of my most common thoughts. So, when an opportunity to travel to France on a school trip came up, I worked my very hardest to make sure I got a spot.

I went to a Catholic, all-girls school for my high school years. As a thirteen-year-old girl, I thought it was the worst thing that could ever happen to me. But, of course, it was one of the best. That school offered numerous opportunities, one of them being an annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, France for rising seniors.

After working on my application diligently, I constantly checked my email for news. I was incredibly nervous and sure I wouldn’t get a spot. I was wrong, of course. I remember checking my email first thing one weekend morning and reading the acceptance email about twelve times before running downstairs to tell my family.

France. I was going to FRANCE. ME!Read More »
